Psalm 106:34-48 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
34 #svThey did not destroy1 the peoples
dt1as the Lord had commanded2 them,
35 #svbut they mingled3 with the nations
    dt1and adopted their customs.
36 #svThey worshiped their idols,4
    dt1which became a snare5 to them.
37 #svThey sacrificed their sons6
    dt1and their daughters to demons.7
38 #svThey shed innocent blood,
dt1the blood of their sons8 and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
dt1and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39 #svThey defiled themselves9 by what they did;
dt1by their deeds they prostituted10 themselves.

40 #svTherefore the Lord was angry11 with his people
    dt1and abhorred his inheritance.12
41 #svHe handed them over13 to the nations,
dt1and their foes ruled over them.
42 #svTheir enemies oppressed14 them
dt1and subjected them to their power.
43 #svMany times he delivered them,15
dt1but they were bent on rebellion16
dt1and they wasted away in their sin.
44 #svBut he took note of their distress
    dt1when he heard their cry;17
45 #svfor their sake he remembered his covenant18
dt1and out of his great love19 he relented.20
46 #svHe caused them to be pitied21
dt1by all who held them captive.
47 #svSave us,22 O Lord our God,
dt1and gather us23 from the nations,
that we may give thanks24 to your holy name25
    dt1and glory in your praise.
48 #svPraise be to the Lord the God of Israel,
    dt1from everlasting to everlasting.
Let all the people say, "Amen!"26

Praise the Lord
